i was hurrying to school this Monday, August 11,2009 at 10:15 am, i thought i was gonna be late, but to my surprise, as i was walking across the Gaisano Country Mall parking lot,an interesting view caught my attention ; the side walk of UC-Banilad and the sky walk was filled with students, some students keep on coming out of the school. I was really curious of what was going on, so i asked some of my schoolmates i know, but they couldn't give me a concrete answer, they were all baffled as well, some told me there was a fire drill, some said a bomb threat, but most didn't really know what happened. few minutes the police came, then the media.The class resumed at 1 pm after the police found nothing inside the school, the threat ws just a prank. But only few students came back, so the class was cancelled.
i think it was the first time the UC had such situation. What a day, even though it was already my 2nd time to experience such.

CESDEV: Mangrove Planting

it was a sunday morning, i was hurrying my self to Sitio Baca because i was gonna be late ( thanks to my cellphone time); gladly i made to arrive few minutes before the buses went off to Liloan.
i was also fortunate that majority of my close friends were in the bus i rode. after almost 1 hour of of travel we arrived at the wrong destination(hahaha! nalapas mi). after few turns we arrived at the right one.

we immediately went to check the area.
we did some walking, we were asked by the Cesdev
volunteers to fix our pants and wear our slippers.

after getting a mangrove seedling , the students went to the planting area, and my golly, it was sticky! were told to line up and by a signal we will plant the seedling 1 row at a time. after that we went back to the shore.it was a great day, though a little bit exhausted.

it was confirmed that 3 students of University of Cebu Lapu Lapu-Mandue had acquired AH1n1 forcing the school to suspend the classes until June 28. News Info.

i also heard that a UC Banilad student was also affected by the virus from a vacation abroad. he quarantined himself in some place after he got the disease, he didnt go to the school and not yet enrolled for this semester. So the classes is still on and kicking in UC-B. and I am going to school soon..my classes starts @ 10:30. xd

CESDEV orientation

this morning i attended my first ever CESDEV( Community Service Extension and Development) Orientation with the allied over all coordinator Mr.Jomar Colao.
In the orientation he explained the importance,goal and mission of CESDEV for us university students.
The main objective of CESDEV is to share what we have to the community, as part of it.
all sophomores upto seniors are required to join CESDEV.

every semester we must comply 2 outreach programs and attend 2 seminars for us to complete the required tickets for the signing of clerance during finals;and this will be done until we graduate.

i just read an article from the UC site that is about the violation of Narra Travel Assistance, Inc. and/or Mr. Lee Dong Bum of its contract with the University of Cebu. Does this mean no more foreign students will be allowed to enroll in UC? No more Korean ESL students?..how sad!..maybe thats why they renovated some of the rooms in the mezzanine floor and will soon gonna be the new rooms for the Law students.

early this morning i joined a group competition called Techno challenge, its like amazing race, cracking clues, and completing challenges, the game was composed of the ff;

1st: answering a logical situation on a flash game were 3 zombies and 3 priests are involved, we have to make them cross the other side of the island without a priest being eaten by zombies.

2. The next destination is a classroom located next to a comfort room, the number of which contains 3 digits, the most significant digit(MSD) is the only even number among the 3. The least significant(LSD) is a prime number if you add the LSD into the middle digityou get the MSD, if you add the MSD to the middle digit you get the number of sides of a pentagon, if you add the MSD to the LSD you get another prime number that is more than the LSD by value equal to the MSD, the sum of all value is twice the MSD.

3. Every weekend, Joe Taybuhok plays piano at Lounge Lizard's. Last night ws a pretty good crowd for a tuesday, w/c unfortunately only amounted to six customers(including Sally Muang). each person challenged joe's ability by requesting song by a different artist. determine the order in w/c the six people made their requests and the performer whose work each person requested.

•neil cutter (who didnt make the second request) requested a song by either james taylor or elton john.

• Mico Yus made the third request.

• Neither Natty Kalbong nor Gabby Tay was the person who made a request fter the person who requested a song by James Taylor.

•the sixth request was for a song by Neil Diamond.

• the person who requested a song by Jim Croce was the second person to make a request after one women

•Dinah Kamaoh made her request sometime before the person who wanted to hear a Billy Joel song.

• the first and second requests were made by people of different sexes.

i came to school early this morning; i was there quarter to 8am i guess and my class actually starts
at 10:30..it was for some reason that a friend of mine asked me last Saturday to let her assessment slip be signed by the accounting so she could take the exam..but unfortunately she wasn't able to get the assessment from me yesterday(Sunday) so i had to be early this morning cause her exam starts at 8:30am..whew...i was still very sleepy..midterms exam..grrrrr..after the departmental here comes the test papers again.!!

confusion on the lose

i went to the registrar's office to submit a card from pvao that needs to be signed, but the problem was...they said that they were not the ones who will sign it..and then they point me to the accounting office...but when i asked the accountant to sign the card..she refuse, instead she told me to go to the SAO(student affairs office) to ask who's in charge of my problem .but when i went to the SAO office..they pointed the registrars office again so i went down form the second floor to the registrars office...but then the people in the registrars office refuse again...and pointed me to the accounting so i went there again..but the accountiant in charge told me to go back to the registrars office and let them read the instructions of the card..so off i went..and then i submitted again my card..and after 30 minutes of random questioning and waiting..i got my card signed...

My analytic geometry professor had and emergency leave (kay buntis man siya), but the problem is...no other professor is available in our schedule time TTH:3:00-4:30pm..but a professor told us..that he will handle our class if we will adjust to the time hes available which is MWF:6:30-7:30pm. he gave us choice its either we wait for our teahcer to come back..or agree to the schedule...of corse...we chose the 6:30pm.haaaiiizzz....

I saw few students yesterday who were gathering in front of the bulletin board; so i also checked what they are looking at..and there it was...the schedule of activities for second semester. they wanna find out when is our midterm exam. but majority wants to find out when is the next holiday. but i rarely look at the schedules posted,because often times..the schedule is not being followed.. especially the exam dates.

there is this book store outside UC that if had other choices, i would not want to go again...because of these observations and experiences i had in the store:

• the tinderas(sales ladies) will just look at you unless you'll tell them : *miss mu palit ko
• often times they are having chismisan/sing along the radio that's why it will took several minutes before you get entertained
• when you buy load, sometimes they forgot to load you (my classmate experienced it,she was waiting for the load the whole night, and in the morning the tindera told her that they forgot it) * nag chismis man gud mao makalimot
• overpricing. they forgot that majority of their cutomers are students and not all are rich

Holiday's Vacation is Over

After 16 days of vacation, classes resumed today.well nothing much changed. UC still looks like it used to be...students are definitely the same..."making" or should i say: copying from classmate's work(assignments), an hour before the time, that were supposedly done on the vacation period. some were absent, majority of them went to their provinces, maybe because of the bad weather they were stranded on terminals. during vacant time students still spend majority of the time chatting(chismisan to the max) some test results were given also..wheew..back to normal students life..
